PCB Layout Design Engineer

CIMware is looking for a PCB Layout Design Engineer with experience in multilayer board design, high-speed digital routing, and PCB manufacturing processes. The candidate will be responsible for translating schematics into production-ready PCB layouts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with design standards, and supporting product development from concept through manufacturing. Strong expertise in Cadence Allegro, orCAD and knowledge of SI/PI considerations are required.

A PCB Layout Design Engineer is responsible for creating printed circuit board (PCB) layouts that meet electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and reliability requirements. The engineer works closely with hardware, signal integrity, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams to translate circuit schematics into manufacturable PCB designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop PCB layouts based on circuit schematics and design requirements.
  • Place and route components while considering signal integrity, power integrity, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
  • Design multilayer PCBs for digital, analog, RF, mixed-signal, and power electronics applications.
  • Generate manufacturing outputs such as:
    • Gerber files
    • ODB++ files
    • Drill files
    • Assembly drawings
    • Fabrication drawings
    • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Perform stack-up planning and layer assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards and company design guidelines.
  • Work with hardware engineers to optimize:
    • High-speed interfaces
    • Power distribution networks
    • EMI/EMC performance
    • Thermal management
  • Coordinate with PCB fabricators and assembly vendors to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Support design reviews and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Analyze and correct design rule check (DRC) and layout-versus-schematic (LVS) violations.
  • Maintain PCB libraries, footprints, and component databases.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering

    • Related discipline

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of PCB design fundamentals:
    • Component placement
    • Routing techniques
    • Grounding and shielding
    • Layer stack-up design
    • Power distribution
  • Experience with PCB design software such as:
    • Cadence Allegro
    • OrCAD PCB Designer
  • Knowledge of:
    • IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600)
    • High-speed PCB design
    • DDR memory routing
    • USB, PCIe, Ethernet routing
    • Differential pair routing
    • RF layout techniques
    • EMI/EMC mitigation

Preferred Qualifications
